Community buildings: renewable energy upgrade programme
Challenge:
Four occupied community buildings required renewable energy upgrades across South Wales. Each site operated daily with fixed usage patterns, limiting access windows — and pre-existing electrical compliance issues increased delivery risk. Works had to be delivered without disrupting community use.
CASE approach:
Site-by-site technical assessments produced bespoke Solar PV and battery storage designs for each building type, with systems integrated to maximise on-site energy use. Electrical safety remedials were identified and scoped as part of the wider programme.
A programme-wide delivery sequence was developed, aligned to each site’s operational patterns — with activity re-sequenced between buildings where site-specific constraints emerged.
Outcome:
All four sites successfully upgraded with Solar PV and battery storage. Electrical safety risks identified and resolved.
Buildings left safer, more efficient, and more resilient — with no disruption to normal use throughout. Programme delivered on time and within budget.
4 sites assessed and upgraded
Solar PV + battery systems installed at each site
Programme-managed, coordinated delivery model
Zero disruption, no impact on community use
